Actor Anupam Kher has joined the cast of Prabhas`s upcoming film Fauzi. The film directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, is produced under the banner of Mythri Movie Makers. The story is set in the 1940s and focuses on a soldier in the Azad Hind Force.

Production banner announced the news with a post on its official X handle on Saturday on the occasion of Kher`s 71st birthday. “Wishing the phenomenal. AnupamPKher Ji a very Happy Birthday. It is an absolute honour to have you as part of the #Fauzi battalion. Wishing you a happy and a healthy year ahead,” read the caption.
The film will be shot in a two-part series, with the second film being a prequel.
Fauzi marks Prabhas’ grand return to the world of epic period dramas after Baahubali, promising a visually stunning and emotionally charged experience. Touted as Mythri Movie Makers’ most ambitious film, it unites Prabhas, the Pushpa makers, and Sita Ramam director Hanu Raghavapudi in what’s hailed as “a union of generations.” With the tagline “The bravest tale of a soldier,” Fauzi unravels a forgotten legend of courage and heroism.

Hanu Raghavapudi on Prabhas`s character
In a recent interview, director Hanu Raghavapudi explained their inclusion of Mahabharata characters Arjuna and Krishna in the first poster of the film. He said, “Prabhas plays a larger-than-life soldier in Fauzi, and I wanted to infuse his character with the traits of legendary warriors. To me, Arjuna, Karna, and Ekalavya represent three distinct yet powerful dimensions of heroism – skill, sacrifice, and devotion.”
He further added, “I wondered what would have happened in the Mahabharat if Karna had joined forces with the Pandavas – it would have completely changed the course of the war. That thought inspired me while shaping this film. Without revealing much, I can say it`s an action-packed story set in the 1940s colonial era.
Anupam Kher`s work front
Kher`s latest work is Tanvi The Great, which also marked his return to direction. The film released in July 2025 and also starred Shubhangi Dutt alongside the actor. He will next feature in Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 alongside Boman Irani and Ranvir Shorey. It is a sequel to the 2006 film with the same title. It also marks the 550th film for the actor
