The Howrah-Duranto train with number 12246 has suffered a brake binding and smoke due to friction of the brake block in a coach near Kuppam of Andhra Pradesh. However with the on board staff’s vigilance, the cause of the problem was rectified and the train was started to its destination.

According to the South Western Railway officials, the train guard who noticed the smoke coming from one of the coaches had stopped the train and checked it according to the Standard Operations Procedures. They rectified the problem of brake binding and departed the train from the station.

The officials said that there were no casualties and the train departed after the crew attended the issue and the passengers breathed in a sigh of relief.

Earlier, there were reports that there was a fire accident in the train. However, Railway Department officials clarified it.
