Haryana’s transport department to procure 1,000 new buses, including 500 EV’s

Haryana’s State Transport Department will soon procure 1,000 new buses, including 500 electric buses and 500 ordinary buses.

Transport minister Anil Vij said, “The government’s objective is to modernise the public transport system and make it safer, environment-friendly and more convenient for passengers. We are continuously working to integrate technology with transport services to provide passengers with a better, safer, and more convenient travel experience.”

All the buses of the Transport Department will be equipped with an advanced tracking system, enabling real-time monitoring of buses.

In addition, digital display boards, similar to those at airports, will be installed at bus stands to help passengers receive accurate information regarding bus arrivals and departures in a timely manner.

A modern mobile app is also being developed. Through this app, the commuters will be able to access complete information regarding bus location, schedule and routes directly on their mobile phones, helping them plan their journeys more efficiently.

The new technology will also monitor whether buses were being operating on their designated routes.

“If any driver diverts a bus from the approved route or fails to bring it to the designated bus stand, the system will immediately generate an alert and an automatic explanation will be sought from the concerned driver. This will ensure greater transparency and accountability in the transport system,” said Vij.

He said that he has personally reviewed the trial of this modern system and will soon be launched as a pilot project in one district, before being implemented across the state in a phased manner.
