After the success of Border 2, the franchise’s producer Nidhi Dutta is expanding JP Films’ slate with five new projects. The line-up includes Border 3, a biopic on war hero General Harbaksh Singh, a contemporary Air Force drama set around Operation Sindoor, a treasure-hunt adventure franchise rooted in Indian history and mythology, and a long-form series on the life of legendary filmmaker OP Dutta, the father of JP Dutta. Speaking about Border 3, Nidhi told THR India, the film “represents our continued commitment to telling stories of bravery and national pride on the biggest possible canvas”. On the General Harbaksh Singh biopic, she added that it aims to bring “an important chapter of Indian military history to a new generation”.

No heartbreak songs for girls

Singer Sona Mohapatra has criticised Bollywood’s music industry for sidelining female voices in romantic and heartbreak songs. Speaking at a recent event, she said, “All those heartbreak songs in Bollywood are reserved for the men.” Recalling her experience on Zaalima from Raees (2017), Sona said she was “flabbergasted” by the lack of space for the female voice. “I asked Pritam, ‘Is the man making love to himself? What kind of a duet is this?’” she said. Sona later stressed that her criticism was aimed at the industry’s “system”, not individual artistes.

Pankaj Kapur has shared a charming anecdote about a young Shah Rukh Khan from his days at the National School of Drama (NSD). The veteran actor recalled how during production, he and his classmates would enjoy samosas and tea backstage. “Those samosas were supplied to us by none other than Shah Rukh Khan,” he said, adding that SRK was only 10 years old then and his father ran the NSD canteen.
