Sanjay Dutt is set to headline the upcoming drama Aakhri Sawal, which will premiere exclusively on Lionsgate Play from August 13. The film brings together an ensemble cast including Sameera Reddy, Amit Sadh, Tridha Choudhury, Namashi Chakraborty and Neetu Chandra. Produced by Nikhil Nanda and Sanjay Dutt under Nikhil Nanda Motion Pictures, and co-produced by Ujjwal Anand, Aakhri Sawal revolves around Professor Gopal Nadkarni, played by Sanjay Dutt. A celebrated academic known for his unwavering principles, Gopal finds himself at the centre of a growing ideological and generational conflict after a controversial academic decision sparks a confrontation with one of his brightest students, Vicky, played by Namashi Chakraborty.
What begins as a disagreement within the classroom soon develops into a much larger public debate. As the controversy gains attention, the media, political voices and the public become involved, turning the academic dispute into a nationwide discussion where opposing sides claim to possess the truth.
As the story progresses, hidden motives, personal histories and long-buried secrets begin to emerge. The revelations force the characters to question their own assumptions and blur the distinction between conviction and reality. Sanjay Dutt has described his character as someone whose beliefs have defined his life but who also possesses vulnerability and compassion. Speaking about the film, the actor said, “Professor Gopal Nadkarni is a man whose beliefs have shaped his entire life. But, beneath that conviction lies vulnerability, compassion, and a willingness to question himself.”
