Videos of her dancing her heart out to dhol beats while welcoming Bappa home went viral on social media. But what left many curious was husband, Govinda’s absence.
Sunita Ahuja adresses Govinda’s absence from Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations
On Monday, September 14, while interacting with the paps, Sunita has addressed Govinda’s absence and revealed where the actor is. During a conversation with ANI, Sunita revealed that Govinda is in America and he will come back on Monday night.
She said, “Govinda ji is in America, he’ll come back at night. If he is tired, he won’t come for darshan today and instead will come tomorrow. This is his house, so he has to come.”

Meanwhile, she also spoke about bringing Bappa home every year. Sunita revealed that it was a tradition started by her mother-in-law, and that she will continue the tradition until she is alive.
She also stated that every year, Govinda or her son Yashvardhan Ahuja bring Bappa home. However, this year, she decided to take the responsibility. She said, “I brought Ganpati home this time with a lot of singing and dancing – usually, Govinda ji or Yashvardhan bring him. In the last one year, Bappa has given me so much fame. I’ve been working hard, and things have gone really well for me. So I decided that I’d bring Lord Ganesha with my own hands.”
Sunita Ahuja and Govinda’s relationship
Sunita Ahuja has often made headlines over her relationship with actor Govinda. She has, on multiple occasions, publicly accused the actor of cheating on her amid troubles in their marriage. Sunita had even allegedly filed for divorce from the verteran actor.
However, she later withdrew her petition stating that Govinda was having an affair and that he wanted to marry his co-star Komal Rani Swarnkar. Meanwhile, Govinda has maintained that the accusations are false.
Sunita Ahuja and Govinda have been married for 29 years since March 11, 1987. Together, they have two children , a daughter named Tina Ahuja and a son named Yashvardhan Ahuja.
