Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has put an end to speculation surrounding his health after a recent blog post about surgery and an ICU stay sparked widespread concern among fans. The 83-year-old clarified that he had not undergone any surgery and that his words were misunderstood.
Amitabh Bachchan clarifies he wasn’t hospitalised
The confusion began after Bachchan shared a reflective blog in which he spoke about the emotional and physical challenges faced by patients after being discharged from hospital. His mention of being “in hospital, in a surgery and in the ICU” led many readers to believe that he was referring to his own recent medical condition. Fans flooded social media with messages wishing him a speedy recovery and expressing concern over his well-being.
However, Bachchan has now set the record straight. Speaking to Variety India, the actor said that he is perfectly fine and that the blog was never intended as a personal health update. He explained that he was merely using the example of a patient recovering after surgery to draw a parallel with life’s setbacks.
“I am fine. I did not undergo any surgery. That post was misunderstood. I was simply giving an example of how the toughest phase after surgery or an ICU stay begins when a patient returns home and has to cope with recovery. Similarly, when a champion faces defeat, getting back on one’s feet is the hardest part,” Bachchan clarified. He mentioned that the blog was for Messi and not his health.
Here’s who the post referred to
His earlier blog had reflected on the difficulties people face after leaving the hospital, describing the homecoming period as the most challenging phase physically, psychologically and practically. He also wrote about resilience, noting that while some people overcome adversity with courage, others choose to accept their circumstances, adding that there is no right or wrong way to deal with difficult situations. The philosophical post was interpreted by many as a direct account of his own health.
The clarification comes as a relief to fans, especially after recent rumours about his health had already made headlines. Bachchan has continued with his professional commitments and remains actively engaged with his audience through his regular blog posts and social media updates.
On the work front, the veteran actor is gearing up for the next season of Kaun Banega Crorepati and is also set to reprise his role as Ashwatthama in the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD.
