Actor Pradeep Rawat’s son, Vikramaditya Singh Rawat, broke down while remembering his father at a prayer meet held in Mumbai on Thursday. The veteran actor, known for his memorable performances in films such as Ghajini, Lagaan and Sarfarosh, died earlier this week at the age of 74 following a battle with blood cancer.
Family members, friends and several colleagues from the film industry gathered at the prayer meet to pay their respects to the late actor, whose career spanned over four decades across Hindi, Telugu and Tamil cinema.
Pradeep Rawat’s son breaks down in tears
Speaking to news agency ANI after the prayer meet, Vikramaditya became emotional while recalling the kind of father Pradeep Rawat was. “No matter how many words I speak about my father, they will always be less. He was a man of honour and respect,” he said.
Vikramaditya further recalled how deeply he admired his father and said that he would choose him as his father in any lifetime. “No matter how many times I pray to God, or if God asks me what kind of father I want, I will always take his name,” he said.

He also spoke about his determination to continue his father’s legacy. According to Vikramaditya, Pradeep Rawat always believed that his son would one day make him proud. “He believed, and I believe too, that one day I will make his name proud. I will carry forward his legacy. I want to follow his legacy, and I want to make it even bigger,” he added.
Pradeep Rawat’s legacy
Pradeep Rawat earned widespread recognition for his powerful performances, particularly his portrayal of the antagonist in Ghajini. He was also part of acclaimed and commercially successful films including Lagaan, Sye, Naayak and Sarfarosh. His final screen appearance was in Chhaava, where he played Yesaji Kank.
Several of his industry colleagues also remembered the actor at the prayer meet. Raghubir Yadav described his death as a major loss for the film industry. “There is a lot of pain, and the film industry has lost a very big actor, a very intelligent actor and a truly talented performer,” he said, adding that Rawat would continue to live on through people’s memories.
Actor Mukesh Rishi also recalled his long association with Rawat, which began with Sarfarosh more than 26 years ago. “The journey of both of us started with Sarfarosh, where we first met and got to know each other,” he said.
Pradeep Rawat is survived by his wife, Kalyani Rawat, and son Vikramaditya.
