Ranbir Kapoor says Ramayana gave him a chance to become a better human

The cast of Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited Ramayana – Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Ravie Dubey – recently appeared on Kaun Banega Crorepati to promote their upcoming film. During the episode, host Amitabh Bachchan asked them about their first reactions to being offered to play Lord Ram, Goddess Sita and Lakshman, respectively. Ranbir revealed that he was initially scared, but soon began to feel grateful for the opportunity.
‘My first instinct was fear’
The makers of Kaun Banega Crorepati shared a new promotional clip from the episode. Talking about his role, Ranbir said, “When this role was offered to me, I knew that this isn’t just a role; it is a big responsibility. My first instinct was fear: am I qualified enough to play this role? Whether I will be able to do this role? The faith of crores of people is linked to Lord Shri Ram. But very soon this fear turned into gratitude.”
‘It is not impossible to become like Lord Ram’
Ranbir admitted that the opportunity to be part of Ramayana came around the time he embraced fatherhood, making the role feel even more meaningful. He added, “I felt gratitude that I got this opportunity at this stage in my life and a chance to become a better human. It was during this time that I became a father and I believe that this film is a God’s gift that I got the opportunity to become a better human, to understand the Ramayana deeply and to get the opportunity to work with these beautiful people. It is not impossible to become like Lord Ram, but to learn something from him is a big deal for all of us.”

During the episode, Sai Pallavi also opened up about her approach to portraying Sita Maa in Ramayana. The actress said she prayed to Sita Maa before taking on the role in the film. She said, “I didn’t want to use my head this time. Every time I play a character, I think, ‘What can I give to that character? ‘ but this was the first time when I thought, ‘What can I get for playing a role like that of Sita Maa? Like what knowledge will I gain from this?’ So, I wanted to keep the process transparent. I didn’t want to think about anything. I prayed to Sita Maa and went forward with it.”
About Ramayana
Apart from Ranbir, Sai Pallavi and Ravie Dubey, Ramayana also stars Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Rajul Preet Singh as Surpanakha and others. The first part of the epic is scheduled to release in theatres on November 5, 2026.
