In the video, when Subodh Uniyal was asked to leave the booth, he is heard saying, “Pagalon ke bachche kaun hai yeh?” Interestingly, the video had originally gone viral back in June this year during the Uttarakhand municipal elections. Along with the video, Mika wrote, “Thank you, Uttarakhand, for standing with Daler Mehndi ji. Artists have always loved Uttarakhand, but if artists are disrespected by politicians, why would we come to perform there? (sic).”
He went on to tag Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in his tweet, requesting him to take strict action against Uniyal. Concluding his tweet, Mika wrote, “Artists deserve respect and dignity.”

The controversy emerged on Sunday, October 18, 2026, when Daler was performing at the Kunjapuri Tourism and Development Fair in New Tehri, Uttarakhand, for a Navratri event. While he was performing, Uniyal interrupted his performance, claiming that the singer was intoxicated, and was struggling to speak. He also alleged that the singer was lip-syncing despite being paid a hefty sum of Rs 35 lakh.
Reacting to a video of Uniyal, Mika questioned him if he had paid Rs 35 lakh in cash or by cheque. The singer wrote, “Sir, aapne Rs 35 lakh cash mein diye the ya cheque se? Agar aapke paas payment ki receipts hain, toh please public ke saamne share kijiye, taaki sabko sach pata chal sake. Thank you!”
Ever since the incident, Daler Mehndi’s brother and notable singer, Mika Singh, has been posting about the controversy and defending the veteran singer. He even claimed that the latter never drinks alcohol. Mika has also been saying that Uniyal owes Daler an apology.
The video, which went viral, received mixed reactions, with many celebrities coming out in support of Daler, and expressing their displeasure over Uniyal’s behaviour.
