Samay Raina made a comeback with the second season of his controversial show, India’s Got Latent, on YouTube and Netflix on June 20. The first episode saw Alpha stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari grace the show to promote their upcoming film. As usual, Samay was seen roasting his guests, Alia and Sharvari, during the episode.
Samay Raina roasts Alia Bhatt
The episode of India’s Got Latent 2 saw Samay trolling the actress as the session continued. After introducing Alia, Samay said, “Alia ji yar, first of all I can’t believe you are here.” To this, Alia replied, “I’m kind of regretting it.” Samay quickly hit back, saying, “Maine bhi kiya tha Jigra dekh ke regret.” Alia sportingly took the joke and even thanked the comedian for at least watching the film and contributing to its collection.
Later, he quipped, “Kahan Cannes, kahan Latent. But, yahan cameras aap pe hai (Cannes is one thing, latent is another; but here the cameras are focusing entirely on you),” leaving everyone on stage in splits.
The comment appeared to be a playful dig at the Cannes controversy surrounding Alia’s appearance at the red carpet earlier this year. The actor grabbed headlines after several social media users noted that international photographers and media personnel at the festival’s red carpet did not recognise her and cameras moved away when she arrived.
Later during the show, Alia mentioned that she had watched Sunil Pal and Samay’s episode on Kapil Sharma’s show. Reacting to this, Samay said, “Aap sab dekhte ho yar, bhot time hai aapke pas. (You watch everything, you have a lot of time)” The comedian further joked, “Isiliye Alpha itni delay ho rahi hai. (That is why Alpha is delayed)” Continuing the banter further, Samay said that Alia does only one film a year before he asked her about her upcoming project.
Alia quickly responded in her usual witty style, saying, “I think we can all genuinely say this with absolute clarity and be so so grateful for all the laughs that we have had thanks to… Kapil Sharma.”
Samay soon shot back with another joke, taking a dig at the actress’s awards hosting stint, asking, “Yahan aap funny ho gayi, Zakir bhai ke time pe kya hua tha? (You’re being funny here—what happened back when Zakir Bhai was around?)”

The comedian did not spare Sharvari either. He introduced Sharvari as “Alia’s plus one”, during the episode, adding to the banter.
India’s Got Latent Season 2 premiered on June 20 at 7 PM, marking Samay Raina’s much-awaited return. Notably, the new season is being released simultaneously on Netflix and YouTube, with new episodes scheduled every two weeks.
