Netizens react to no kissing scene in Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2

Emraan Hashmi’s return as Shivam Pandit in Awarapan 2 has sparked plenty of nostalgia among fans, particularly those who remember the actor’s iconic romantic image from the early years of his career. While the film has been receiving a positive response from audiences and has performed strongly at the box office, one detail has caught the attention of social media users: there is not a single kissing scene featuring Emraan in the sequel.
Emraan Hashmi sheds his ‘serial kisser’ image
For years, Emraan was popularly referred to as Bollywood’s “serial kisser” because of the numerous intimate scenes in films such as Murder, Zeher and Jannat. His on-screen romantic image became so closely associated with his identity that fans naturally expected Awarapan 2 to include at least one such moment, especially given the actor’s pairing with Disha Patani.

He’s got a point — the “serial kisser” tag became bigger than the performances and stories themselves. Sometimes one catchy label can overshadow an actor’s entire body of work. 🎬👏 #EmraanHashmi #Bollywood #KollywoodWire

However, viewers were surprised to discover that the film does not feature a kissing scene involving Emraan. Social media quickly filled with humorous reactions, with several fans joking that they had gone to watch the film expecting to see the “old” Emraan Hashmi return.

One social media user joked that it felt “illegal” to watch an Emraan Hashmi film without a kiss scene. Another fan humorously urged the actor to kiss Disha, while someone else said viewers were searching for the Emraan Hashmi they remembered from Murder.

No single kiss , Zero romance
Emraan Hashmi & cutie Disha Patani still made Awarapan 2 a surprisingly good watch 🔥😍 pic.twitter.com/0unYCW80Gi

The jokes also highlighted how strongly Emraan’s early-career image continues to live in popular memory. For many viewers, his romantic and intimate roles were a defining part of Bollywood cinema in the 2000s and early 2010s. As a result, his decision to take on a more mature and restrained role in Awarapan 2 has become a talking point in itself.
Interestingly, not everyone considered the absence of a kissing scene disappointing. Some fans appreciated the actor’s evolution and felt that he has successfully moved beyond the “serial kisser” tag associated with his younger years. One viewer pointed out that Emraan is married and has consciously moved away from erotic films, while another simply welcomed the absence of an intimate scene.
All about Awarapan 2
The discussion comes as Awarapan 2 enjoys a strong theatrical run. The film opened to Rs 22 crore net in India and Rs 28 crore worldwide on its first day, giving Emraan his biggest opening as a leading actor. It also surpassed the lifetime collection of the 2007 original within a day.
Thus, while Awarapan 2 may have skipped the trademark kiss, it appears to have delivered something else fans were looking for: nostalgia, emotion and a different side of Emraan Hashmi.
