As the buzz around Batwara 1947 continues to grow, many on the internet have been drawing comparisons between Preity Zinta’s character and Ameesha Patel’s character Sakina in Gadar. The Gadar star has now reacted to a fan who compared the two actresses, saying Preity is also very beautiful. Meanwhile, Ameesha had also recently reacted to a fan who suggested she could play Sita in Ramayana.
Ameesha reacts to Preity’s Batwara 1947 character compared to Sakina
Ameesha recently hosted an AskAmy session on X, where a fan praised Ameesha’s portrayal as Sakina, while hinting that Preity was trying to recreate her character. The fan shared a collage of the two actresses side by side and wrote, “Have you watched the Batwara trailer? It feels like Preity Zinta is trying very hard to copy your iconic Sakina. But some characters are simply unforgettable. And no one can recreate the magic you and Sunny sir gave us in Gadar (sic).”

Responding to the comparison, Ameesha wished Preity and wrote, “Woh bhi bahut Khoobsurat hai bhai (Referring to Preity: she is also beautiful). Sakina wishes her the best. Tara ka dhyaan rakhna (Take care of Tara) till he’s not back to where he belongs (sic).”
Ameesha was seen starring opposite Sunny Deol in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha and its 2023 sequel Gadar 2. The first film was set against the backdrop of the 1947 Partition, showing Ameesha as Sakina and Sunny as Tara Singh. Sunny is now set to explore the Partition era once again in his upcoming film, Batwara 1947. Produced by Aamir Khan Productions, it also stars Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, Karan Deol, Khushi Hajare, Kanikka Kapur and Khali along with Ali Fazal, who has a special appearance in the film.
Batwara 1947 is scheduled to release in theatres on August 14, 2026, ahead of the Independence Day weekend, clashing with Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2.
